WoW, PSP, Xbox 360 top Google's top search lists

As noted just a few hours ago, the PSP and Xbox 360 featured heavily in the top searches performed on Yahoo's search engine. No different for Google, really, where Sony's PSP was the most searched-for game product in Google's Froogle engine (guess people want it cheaper, take the hint, Sony!) and the Xbox 360 was the most searched for games item in Google News.

That Xbox 360 result is fantastic*, considering the competition. Here's the Google News top search results for 2005. How did the Xbox 360 beat out Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie? Stay cool. That rumbling you feel in LA isn't an earthquake. It's Hollywood shaking in its boots as video games grow while movie attendance continues its year-over-year decline. Then again, maybe legions of holiday shoppers were just hoping Google news would tell them where to find an in-stock Xbox 360.

  1. Janet Jackson
  2. Hurricane Katrina
  3. tsunami
  4. xbox 360
  5. Brad Pitt
  6. Michael Jackson
  7. American Idol
  8. Britney Spears
  9. Angelina Jolie
  10. Harry Potter

Meanwhile, World of Warcraft placed eighth in Google's "Top Gainers of 2005" list.
