In an effort to make King Kong the top-selling title of the holiday season, the powers that be thought it necessary to announce that, with enough labor (racking up 250,000 points), players can unlock an alternate ending in which Kong is returned to the safety of Skull Island—they’ve also slashed the game’s current-gen price tag. Peter Jackson explained the addition, remarking, “I wanted the game to be able to take the audience a bit further than what the film could.” It’s an interesting move, if not a defilement of the now classic fable.
